Monthly Art Walk May 3 in Fort Myers River District

The monthly Fort Myers Art Walk on Friday, May 3 will feature new art shows, live music and the traditional after party. Art buyers and art enthusiasts can meet the local artists during the exhibit openings at most of the downtown galleries and art spaces. The River District is home to seven art galleries and at least seven more retails shops who sell local artwork.

The May Art Walk will be preceded by the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau’s Team Tourism Travel Rally Day at the water basin area from 4 to 6 p.m. This free family-oriented event will be highlighted by art demonstrations.

Started nearly five years ago, the Fort Myers Art Walk runs from 6 to 10 p.m. on the first Fridays of every month (rain or shine) in the Fort Myers River District.

Art highlights of the Friday, May 3 Art Walk:

- Art of the Olympians: Opening of the annual Digital Lee exhibit which showcases the work of local high school art students. Digital Lee is a design and technology showcase of the most exceptional student projects from the Lee County School District, exhibiting their work in graphic design, animation, publication design, and Web design. The Full Circle exhibit featuring two Olympian cyclists, teammates and artists Bill Kund and Skip Cutting continues.

 

- Art League of Fort Myers: Opening reception Beautiful Color, an exhibit of two dimensional works created by members of the Art Council of Southwest Florida and affiliated organizations.

- Arts for ACT Gallery: Opening reception for new show featuring AQU-The Art Quilters Group’s display of fiber art, “Ronda at Eye Level” documenting a 1980s streetwalker and addict by photographer George Mitchell and “Cupcakes and Tea Anyone” the whimsical art of Cassandra Schulz.

 

- Franklin Shops: Engineer, fabricator and sculptor James Sauter releases his latest creations on the public (Sauters ReelSpiders); painting by artists Karin Dahlstrohm; sculptor Steven Swenor and his dragonfly creations; colorful bird houses by Funky Feathers; and art an curiosities at Terry Tincher’s Art & Odditorium

 

- Ocasiocasa Studio Gallery: New show featuring latest works of sculptured masking tape art on salvaged dolls, created by Jeff & Dale Ocasio.

 

- Reverie & Rock Art Gallery: New Digital Knight exhibit showcasing the winners in the student art competition from North Fort Myers High School. Also, students from the Young Artists Awards program will perform.

 

- Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center: New exhibit featuring the abstract art of London Amara.

 

- UNIT A Contemporary Art Space: Closing reception for exhibit by artists Marcus Jansen and Jonas Stirner.

Art Walk - April 5th

Art Walk this Friday, April 5th!

 

On Friday, April 5, Fort Myers Art Walk will feature new art exhibits, live music and the traditional after party. This Art Walk marks the one-tear anniversary of UNIT A and the final Art Walk show for HOWL Gallery (they are moving to a larger facility). Art buyers and art enthusiasts can meet the local artists during the show openings at most of the downtown galleries and art spaces.

Started nearly five years ago, the Fort Myers Art Walk runs from 6 to 10 p.m. on the first Fridays of every month (rain or shine) in the Fort Myers River District.

Art highlights of the Friday, April 5 Art Walk:

- Art of the Olympians: Opening of Full Circle exhibit featuring two Olympian cyclists, teammates and artists Bill Kund and Skip Cutting.

- Art League of Fort Myers: Opening reception for Through the Lens exhibit.

- Arts for ACT Gallery: Opening reception for new show featuring the Southwest Florida Pen Women group, photographer Andrew Miller and the painted furniture, gourd art and more of Kim Kraft-Beckler.

- HOWL Gallery/Tattoo: Opening reception for a new group show Stewed, Screwed, & Tattooed. The exhibit showcases a group of talented local artists in a variety of mediums. Featured artists include: Justin Bryant, Matt Lackey, Scott Snyder, Mandalin Paul, Christina Penuel, Alisha Koyanis, Danielle Branchaud, David Thomas, Hoolie Huffer, Sherri Malkinson, Steve Dargis, Dale Weber, Danielle Thomas, David Paddock, and others! This will be the gallery’s final Art Walk show. HOWL is moving to a larger location on Cleveland Avenue.

- Ocasiocasa Studio Gallery: Jackalopes and Rattlesnake Eggs – an art collection in foolery, is the newest artwork by Jeff & Dale Ocasio. Giving a nod to the fool’s errand played throughout the world, this collection also includes a hoop snake, dropbear, and their own version of a bunyip.

- Reverie & Rock Art Gallery: Fantasy and reality exhibit featuring the digital surrealism art of Kathy Kuser and concert photography of Jamie Kuser. Also, students from the Young Artists Awards program will perform.

- Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center: New exhibit opens called Parallel Worlds - Parallel Lives: Fort Myers' Pioneers and Florida's Seminole- Miccosukee Indians.

- UNIT A Contemporary Art Space: Artist Marcus Jansen will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of UNIT A.

Art Walk kicks off new year on Friday

The new year celebration continues on Friday, Jan. 4 for the monthly Art Walk in the River District.

The Fort Myers Art Walk runs from 6 to 10 p.m. on the first Fridays of every month (rain or shine) in the Fort Myers River District. The January Art Walk will showcase new art shows, live music and the traditional after party. Art buyers and art enthusiasts can meet the artists during the show openings at most of the downtown galleries.

Additionally in January, Art Walk welcomes two new art spaces to the River District: The Open Door Shoppes on Hendry and The Shoppes at Broadway.

 

Art highlights of the Friday, Jan. 4 Art Walk:

- Art of the Olympians: The Water Expressions exhibit continues and features Olympic swimmers Shane Gould (photography) and Alison Wagner (mixed media).

- Art League of Fort Myers: Opening reception for New Beginnings exhibit show plus face painting and henna by Tara.

-Articulture Gallery & Tattoo Studio: Group art show.

- Arts for ACT Gallery: Opening reception for new exhibit featuring artists Peter Stilton, Richard Bush and Christina Jarmolinski.

- HOWL Gallery/Tattoo: Opening for Too Tough To Die group show.

- Ocasiocasa Studio Gallery: Opening for Nuevo, a new collection of seven altered art dolls recycled and remodeled by makers Jeff and Dale Ocasio.

- Reverie & Rock Art Gallery: Show featuring digital surrealism art by Kathy Kuser and live concert photography by Jamie Kuser. Young Artists Awards students Sam Bostik and Jordan Pilant will perform from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

- Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center: The photography of Dennis Church is showcased in Florida Moments exhibit.

- Space 39 Gallery: Group art show.

- UNIT A Contemporary Art Space: The studio features the work of international artist Marcus Jansen.
